Governor Abbott closes schools for remainder of academic year

Governor Greg Abbott announced today that public and private schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year to avoid increased spread of COVID-19. "The team of doctors advising us have determined it would be unsafe to allow students to gather at schools for the foreseeable future," Abbott said. Educators are still within rights to visit their classrooms in order to instruct via video, collect any belongings, or to perform any administrative duties. The Gazette is working to gather more information on a local level. More details will be released as they become available.
