Climate Change
The Wall Street Journal recently declared that climate change is a dead issue. The Journal wrote that the climate change bunch has left the weather issue and moved over to social justice, whatever that is this week.
After all the hoopla by liberals like Al Gore and all the dire warnings about global catastrophe because of “global warming,” the planet cooled off and the cataclysm that was supposed to happen any moment…just didn’t. The prediction of a weather Armageddon in 25 years was made 35 years ago. Oops.
Most of the disastrous “man-made” global warming predictions were based on “man-made” computer program models. I was interested in the predictions for about 10 seconds, until I learned the whole thing was based on computer programs.
OK, so I’m supposed to believe… a man wrote a computer program that describes every single nuance of the Lord’s global weather? Right, and pigs fly. The more I learned about the programs, the less I believed in global warming. I discovered there were two items that could not be written into the programs because they are an unknown.
The first unknown is the amount of water vapor in any particular place on the planet at any given time. The other - and to me the rather obvious one - was the effect of the sun on any given place or even planet-wide at any given time. Water vapor creates clouds, and no one can predict where a cloud will form or how big the cloud will get or if any rain will come out of it.
Weather prediction is getting better and better and most experts now poo-poo the idea of global warming. So, the liberals, not wanting to let go of a great idea that would limit people’s freedom, and raise taxes, suddenly changed their slogan to “climate change.”
Well, that covered all the bases. Now, you youngsters out there under 60 may not remember the dire predictions of the 1950’s and 1960’s that the next ice age was just around the corner. When that did not work out, they dreamed up global warming. And, I’ve recently heard that the ice age slogan may come back into vogue.
One of the reasons the planet cooled off and is still in that condition is that the sun cooled. The sun goes through cycles and the latest solar-minimum has lasted a little longer than usual. So, the predicted danger of the poles melting kind of died.
NASA was a big proponent of global warming and then the ice cap at the North Pole changed its shrinking and got bigger. The South Pole never was a good indicator of global warming; there was a little melting around the edges, but the interior never got warmer. In the last several years the penguins have had extremely difficult breeding seasons because the walk from the open ocean across the ice to the rookery was twice as far. Many of those watching the eggs have starved.
NASA has dropped the global warming debacle. Liberals and democrats are always looking for a way to limit people’s freedom, and somehow get into the people’s pockets. The European Union is now having a tough time convincing folks that their global warming tax is relevant.
Personally, after their predictions of the of the next ice age failed and then their dire predictions of global warming failed, I think God is just trying to show them who is actually in charge of the weather. The Bible says only a fool believes there is no God. That sums up liberals well.
