Mrs. Martha Ann Porter, 81, passed away on Thursday, June 21 at her home in Pittsburg. Mrs. Porter was born, Martha Ann Hill, March 24, 1937 to Guy Thurman “Buddy” And Geraldine “Gerry” Carroll Hill in Pittsburg.

Mrs. Porter grew up in the First Baptist Church Pittsburg and was a life time Christian. However, she spent 20 years of her early adult life abroad, living in different cultures and within different religions.

Her first adventure abroad was to Melbourne Australia in the mid 1960’s, from Australia she moved to Oakura, New Zealand, from New Zealand to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Malaysia to Teheran Iran, from Iran she moved to Ahmadi Kuwait after the Ayatollah Khomeini came to power in Iran, from Kuwait she moved to Aberdeen Scotland and after Scotland, she returned to “behind the Pine Curtain.” She loved antiquities, therefore Greece was one of her favorite places. The obituary photo was taken in Greece in the mid 1970’s. After returning to Pittsburg in the mid 1980’s, she helped build a log home, raised Simmental Cattle and retired from Walmart in 2014. She had lots of beautiful memories and could spend hours reminiscing.

Mrs. Porter is survived by her husband, Homer Lee “Sonny” Porter; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Porter Hobbs, Patricia Ann Porter Boykin and Julie Ann Porter Ramey; grandchildren, Autumn Brooks Moore, Sabrina Renee Boykin, Bryan Christopher Boykin, Jeremy Holland Ramey and Nathaniel Lee Ramey; one sister, Suzann “Suzie” Hill and one brother Alton Carroll “Butch” Hill. Martha Ann Hill, married Homer Lee Porter, Jr. in Dallas, Dallas County, Oct. 6, 1956. She was his date to the 8th grade prom and the flame never died.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Thurman “Buddy” and Geraldine “Gerry” Carroll Hill and her grandparents; Alton Robert Hill and Ada Vermelle Lewis, Edgar Ephraim Carroll and Wylie Elizabeth Credille.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
