David Charles Clemens
David Charles Clemens of Diana, Texas age 69 passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in Pittsburg, Texas. David was born May 18, 1956, in Pittsburg, Texas to Tom Clemens and Mary Willis Clemens.
David grew up in Pittsburg, Texas, and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1974 where he was a football player, FFA member, and played the trumpet in the band. He then attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas where he was a member of Sigma Chi, graduating with a business degree in 1978. In 1979, he welcomed his only son and pride of his life, Trey. He spent all of his life in East Texas where he built a very successful, award-winning insurance agency, and then followed that with a long career in real estate. Although David was an extremely hard worker, he always made time to be a dedicated father. David never met a stranger, and everyone thought they were his favorite. He always had a story to tell and land to buy. He spent much of his time enjoying East Texas land - either showing it, buying it, hunting it, or driving around it in his Ranger. In his last years, he truly enjoyed being “Pops” and spending time with and spoiling his four grandchildren, hunting any chance he could get, and dreaming about the future with his life partner, Gwen Burris. He was a wonderful father figure and cared deeply for Gwen’s children Jon and Anna-Leigh. He loved the Lord and he loved his family dearly and we will miss him so very much.
David is survived by his partner, Gwen Burris of Diana, Texas, son Trey Clemens and wife Sherry and grandchildren Chloe, Jack, Lila, and Kai of Richardson, brother Thomas Clemens and wife Debbie of Tyler, brother CC Clemens of Alba, and sister Margie Slider of Pittsburg. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Tomie Joe Clemens, brother Melvin Clemens, brother Dale Langford, and brother Mickey Langford.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11: 00 A.M. at Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg, Texas. There will be a visitation held before the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
