Rotary Club learns the importance of cancer screenings

The Pittsburg Rotary Club hosted a health fair at UT Health Pittsburg on Wednesday, Feb. 28. This event featured a presentation by guest speaker Dr. Naga Mounica Gooty, a third year resident at UT Health. Gooty’s presentation entitled “Screening Measures in primary care: Early detection is Key’’ covered vital information about the importance of cancer screenings. She states how screening for cancer as soon as possible is crucial because “The earlier we find them, the easier they are to treat.”

NTCC CARE Center receives grant

The Northeast Texas Community College CARE Center recently learned that it received a $3,000 grant from Swipe Out Hunger – the leading national nonprofit working to end college student food insecurity. NTCC was one of 102 colleges that received more than $420,000 in grants for their campuses. The NTCC funds will be used to purchase a new computer and software to help manage food pantry inventory.
