Pittsburg man sentenced in child pornography case

A federal judge in Marshall sentenced a Pittsburg man to 6-anda-half years in federal prison after his conviction on possession of child pornography charges.

Christopher Joseph Daigre, 32, appeared before Judge Rodney Gilstrap at the federal courthouse in Marshall June 27. Gilstrap handed down the 78-month prison sentence and also sentenced Daigre to five years of supervised release following his prison term.

He had faced a prison term of 10 to 20 years.

Daigre was arrested October 19, 2017 in Harrison County on a U.S. Marshal’s warrant. He was indicted on Sept. 20, 2017. According to the indictment obtained by The Gazette, on March 17, 2016 Daigre was found to be in possession of a 1 terabyte external hard drive “that contained images of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor and a minor who had not attained 12 years of age.”

According to the indictment, authorities found five pornographic videos involving young girls on the computer drive.

In July 2001, when Daigre was 15 years old, he was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The victim was a 6-year-old boy. Daigre is listed on the Texas Department of Public Safety Sex Offender Registry with an address in the 600 block of County Road 2603. According to the registry, he served six years in a juvenile detention center.
