Cassel honored for writings
Commerce, Texas — Texas A&M-Commerce held a luncheon June 26 to honor Pittsburg native Dona Cassel. Administrators and faculty attended the luncheon at the home TAMUC President Ray Keck. The university recognized Cassel, who is an alumni and retired teacher, for her poetry. Her poem, “The Heritage House: Welcome Home,” is hanging in the president’s home. Cassel’s “Battle Cry a Call for Action,” was presented to congress and later put in the congressional record. Her work is also included in the university’s archives and can be viewed at www.tamuc.edu.Cassel is a member of Pittsburg High School Class of 1964.
