The Pittsburg PIrate baseball team hoped to “battle” their way to a fast start in district play. The team did as Pittsburg won its first two district games by a combined two runs.
The Pittsburg Pirates competed in the regional championships for powerlifting held in Arp on Mar. 11. Though they didn’t place to move on to state, two of the three Pitt students each lifted over 1,000 pounds.

With a chance to shape their own playoff destiny, the Pittsburg Pirate soccer team used a late second half goal to defeat North Lamar, 2-1, Monday evening. Elias Flores and Ariel Briceno slotted home goals while Michael Trejo and Juan Vazquez notched assists. Cristhofer Marquez finished with 11 steals and Anuar Terrazas added nine swipes. Aurelio Navarro Jr. had two saves in goal and stopped a penalty kick and Jose Reyes added a save. The Pirates took on Pleasant Grove in the team’s final home game and close the regular season Friday at Paris.The Hawks end their season at home against North Lamar Friday and at Paris Monday.
