Sometimes we think that Christians aren’t supposed to get depressed. Or that if we do, all that’s needed for healing is to sing the right worship song, pray the right prayer, or lay hold of the right biblical promise.

Over the last few months, I have discovered that I have done a pretty poor job at something. And believe me, that is not an easy thing for me to say. But I have learned that I have done a poor job at taking care of myself. Now, before anyone starts busting my chops, I am not meaning in a health kind of way. So let me explain.
Sometimes we need professional help. I have been doing this for many years. Don’t play with suicidal thoughts. Seek council. Call me. Call a friend. Call a doctor. Get off unprescribed drugs. Get on the prescribed, if needed. I can’t tell you more any stronger. God’s help first came to me in a mental institution.
