Sanford

Gavyn K’yan Sanford, age 8, son of Gene and SSgt Latora Lafayette Sanford, was born on Nov. 4, 2010 in Tampa Florida and died on Dec. 16, 2018 in Spangdahlem Germany. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 at 12 p.m. at Northridge Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant Texas, with Jim Parker, Larry Tittle, Skippy Norman, and Fred Crowder officiating. Interment will follow at Edwards Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 from 6-8 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Gavyn was in the 2nd grade and attended Spangdahlem Elementary at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany. He played soccer and enjoyed playing Skylander on Xbox and watching the Avengers movies. He was loved and adored by his Mama and Daddy and little brother Grayson.

He is survived by his parents, Gene and Staff Sgt. Latora Sanford of Spangdahlem Germany, brother, Grayson Sanford of Spangdahlem, paternal grandparents; Delois Sanford of Raleigh, N.C., and Geno Harris of Raleigh, N.C., Maternal Grandparents; Lora Lafayette Walker of Dallas, Texas and Frederick Walker of Mount Pleasant. Texas, great-grandparents; Trena Flemings of Texarkana Ark., and Bobby Walker of Lubbock, Texas, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rita Cumbee; brother, J. D. Henley and a sister, Verlie Young.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas.
