Bobby Gene Nitson, 79, of Pittsburg, TX, passed away at his home on June 26, 2020.

Bobby was born on August 1, 1940, in Pine Bluff, AR, to William and Aileen Nitson. He grew up in Pine Bluff and graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1958. He began a 42 year career and multiple relocations with the railroad when he started working for Cotton Belt Railroad in 1959 in Pine Bluff. He met Lanell Nitson during a church visitation in 1962, and they were married on June 2, 1963. They moved shortly after in early 1964 to Dallas, TX, and their first child, James William, was born in April 1964. They had a second son, Ronald Gene, in July 1966. They remained in Dallas until 1975 at which point they relocated to Ennis, TX in 1978, they moved to Cumby, TX and stayed there until 1982 when they moved to Chandler, TX. Four years later in 1987, they moved to Shreveport, LA for 3 more years, and then moved back to Pine Bluff, AR in 1990. In 2000, they moved to Pittsburg, TX where he retired from the railroad and remained the rest of his life living in a quiet, peaceful setting. His later years involved a lot of fishing and seeing as much of his grandchildren as possible and serving our Lord in his local church as a deacon and treasurer.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, William and Aileen Nitson; sisters, Jane Baker, Pat West, Catherine Sue Nitson; brothers, William L. and infant.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lanell Nitson, Pittsburg, TX; sons, James William Pittsburg, TX, Ronald Gene and wife Karen of Wills Point, TX. Grandchildren, Courtney Dyer and husband Ronald, and great-grandchildren Ronnie Wayne and Genesis Lanell of Dalhart, TX; William Nitson of Lakewood, CO; Cody Nitson and wife Hunter of Dalhart, TX; Anna Nitson of Commerce, TX. Sister, Shirley Staneart and husband John of Lebanon, OR. Many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Erman Smith Funeral Home, Pittsburg, TX. Visitation took place on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral was held at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., Burial followed at Macedonia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
