Funeral services for John Roy McWhorter, 84, of Pittsburg, Tx are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 27, 2020 in the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Rev. Mathew Smith officiating. Private interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. He was born January 26, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Jesse Roy McWhorter and Ruth Hughes McWhorter and passed from this life with his family by his side, June 23, 2020.

John married Mary Janet Saxon on September 23, 1967 in Pittsburg, Texas. He was a family man and a hard worker. John worked for many years as a mechanic who was known to be able to fix anything. Later in life he fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a private pilot. After retirement, he worked part time at Pittsburg Tractor until the age of 80.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jan McWhorter; son, John McWhorter (Amy); granddaughter, Kaylin McWhorter; granddaughter, Colin Efurd (Brantly); grandson, Riley Coleman (Samantha); sister in law, Dot Saxon Nolan (George); brother in laws, Aubrey Saxon and Jimmy Burleson; and by his sister in law, Donna Saxon.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Kent Martin, Kenneth Smith and the Coffee Drinkers from Hershel’s.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 201 W. 20th St, Mt. Pleasant, Texas 75455.
