George William Campbell, age 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 9, 2020 at Pittsburg Nursing Center, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. George was born on February 25, 1949, to Bill and Arminta Campbell in Corpus Christi, Texas. Along with his older sister Janie, George grew up in the Texas towns of Sayers, Carlton, Clute, and Houston, where their father pastored Southern Baptist churches. In the late 50’s, George’s parents bought a farm in Carlton, Texas, that became a beloved part of family life for several generations. In 1967 George graduated from Jesse Jones High School in Houston, then attended East Texas Baptist University where he met his wife Linda. They were married in 19668 and enjoyed 51 years together. George graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1970 and served as a youth and music minister until 1996. In 1983 he became a Registered Piano Technician , serving churches and schools in an eight county area for 30 years. After college, George and Linda moved to Carlton, Texas, in Hamilton County, where they raised two daughters. George was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1996. From 1996 to 2015 they lived in Stephenville, and though George could no longer lead music, they were active members of First Baptist Church. Due to delicing health, George, and Linda built a small home behind their daughter’s house in Pittsburg and made their home there for the final years of his illness.

George was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg. George is survived by his wife, Linda Campbell; two daughters and their husbands, Kristine and Josh Koder of Pittsburg, Texas, Sara and Lyle O’Neal of Cleveland, Texas; six grandchildren, Justin and Katherine Koder, Wesley Koder, Daniel O’Neal, Lauren O’Neal, Rachel O’Neal, and Hannah O’Neal; and four great-grandchildren, Conner, Jace, Kaden and Emmie Lou; his sister Jane Holmes of Crosby, Texas, and niece Karen. His memorial service was held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas on January 12, 2020.
