James ‘Jim’ Oliver Bartholomew, 81, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at Longview Regional Hospital. Jim was born June 8, 1937 to Harry and Ruth Bartholomew in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the youngest of three boys. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1955 and was in the first graduating class of the United States Air Force Academy in 1959 with his Bachelor of Science.

Jim received his Masters of Science from Texas Tech University, and began his lifetime career as a Mechanical Engineer. He directed research and development at companies such as Frito Lay, Inc. and Oscar Mayer. Apart from his work, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to watch football and read whenever he had the time.

Jim is survived by his wife, Terri Smith-Bartholomew from Pittsburg; daughters, Terry Bevers of Houston, Kathy and son-in-law Kenneth Sultemeier of Wichita Falls, Sarah Hinze of Austin, and Susan and son-in-law Nathan Fortner of Amarillo; grandchildren, Ford and Wright Hinze, and Jensen and Scarlett Fortner; brothers, Harry and sister-inlaw Mary Jo Bartholomew of Oskaloosa, Iowa; Jim was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother, Charlie.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Crossroads Baptist Church at 1 p.m., with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you spend time with your family in honor of Jim.
