Introducing new Pirate Coaches

This week’s new introduction is not exactly a new coach, but a returning one, who actually coached and retired from Pittsburg for the last 10 years of her previous career, Debra Bishop. Coach Bishop was originally from Fullerton, Neb.

She received her degree in Physical Education from Wayne State College, in Wayne, Neb. where she also played volleyball. She worked her first six years in Nebraska and won two state championships as an assistant coach in volleyball and basketball. She then attended University of Louisiana at Monroe and received her Masters in Physical Education and Administration. Before she moved to Pittsburg, she coached at Gilmer for 18 years.

“I retired from Pittsburg and now am back to coach this year,” Coach Bishop said. “I’m very happy for the opportunity to return to Pittsburg to coach.”
