A cement truck waits to dump its load as the workers ready the forms for pouring the curbs for the new Rusk Street Pick-up and drop-off road behind Pittsburg Elementary School.
Construction of new parking area and pick-up road begins

Construction has begun on the new elementary student pick-up and drop-off road behind the Elementary School.
The school district hopes the new road will alleviate traffic congestion on Fulton Street that parents have experienced in the past. The road will be one-way and will work just as the Primary School pick-up and drop-off works with parents turning onto the new road from Rusk Street. The entrance is approximately 100 feet from the beginning of Clayton Street. The cars will make a loop and return to exit back onto Rusk Street.
Officers will be posted at the entrance to direct traffic. The children exiting the school will be under a covered walkway in case of inclement weather.
