Camp County Commissioners Court brief

The Commissioners’ Court met a day early, July 3, as their regular meeting date fell on the fourth of July. Besides the regular paying of the bills, the court addressed the finalization of a lease purchase agreement and considered the purchase of one more copy machine for Elaine Young’s County Clerk office.

The purchase will bring the total of machines to 10 and since the lease is now converted to a maintenance agreement this will lower the County’s payments by over $500. The copy machine which is now in the County Clerk’s office will be moved to the new Justice of the Peace’s office in the annex, and the new copier will be placed in Ms. Young’s office.

The next item for consideration was the acquiring of specifications and pricing to build an additional storage building for the County’s equipment and rolling stock. The purpose being to increase the life of the equipment by keeping it covered during inclement weather and from cooking under the Texas sun.

The new structure will be built on land the county already owns or leases near the existing County barn. This resolution will enable the site to be surveyed for this purpose.

The last item on the agenda will be a continuing item on all Court agendas in the near future as the court must approve the acceptance of funds from the Texas Historical Commission’s court house preservation fund, and the paying out of funds from the County’s treasury to match the Historical Commissions’ funds.

The Court was read a resolution by Judge A. J. Mason for the record and was approved by the Court. The full text of the resolution was unavailable at press time but will be published in the Gazette next week.

After a brief discussion of the possible location of the new equipment and rolling stock building, the Court adjourned.
