In lieu of traditional egg hunts, the Pittsburg-Camp County Chamber of Commerce decided to do something safer for the children this Easter. Since COVID-19 has made it impossible to gather and hunt eggs together, a drive-by hunt was organized. Businesses were able to download a template of an Easter egg, decorate it, and place it in the front window of their business. Parents then drove their children by to hunt them. Businesses participating included Peonies Skin Care, Dodson Chiropractic, Wallace Law Firm, Rustville Essentials, Parker Drug, The Pittsburg Gazette, Camp County Appraisal District, and more.

Local Habitat affiliate updates project plans during the pandemic

Habitat for Humanity of Camp County, TX Inc. updated the actions the affiliate is taking to protect its board, volunteers and the people it serves during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. According to Vice President and Construction Manager, Scottie Traylor, “based on recommendations from our local government officials, we have decided to postpone ramp and home building projects requiring several volunteers on site until it is deemed safe to do so.” When these projects are rescheduled, times and locations will be posted on the affiliates’ Facebook page and the Camp County Talks page. Additional updates will be publicized as conditions change.
