In lieu of traditional egg hunts, the Pittsburg-Camp County Chamber of Commerce decided to do something safer for the children this Easter. Since COVID-19 has made it impossible to gather and hunt eggs together, a drive-by hunt was organized. Businesses were able to download a template of an Easter egg, decorate it, and place it in the front window of their business. Parents then drove their children by to hunt them. Businesses participating included Peonies Skin Care, Dodson Chiropractic, Wallace Law Firm, Rustville Essentials, Parker Drug, The Pittsburg Gazette, Camp County Appraisal District, and more.

Mandy Smith wins TIPA Adviser of the Year Award

Northeast Texas Community College associate professor Mandy Smith was recently named the 2019 Charles “Chuck” Choate Memorial Adviser of the Year by the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA). This is the top state award for college and university journalism advisers and is designated for those who “go the extra mile in teaching and advising.”
