Charlotte Anita Laing, 66, of 177 CR 2417, Camp County, Leesburg, left this earth for her heavenly home on May 19, 2020. Charlotte will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. A memorial service will be held in the future at Midway Baptist Church, 8831 US Hwy 271N, Gilmer, Texas.
AUSTIN — Gov. Greg Abbott on May 18 allowed restaurants to increase occupancy to 50% and relaxed his earlier executive orders that limited certain other public activities over the last two months to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The Pittsburg High School Class of 2020 Valedictorian and Salutatorian are Abbigail Hammonds and McKenna Wood. Hammonds graduates with a GPA of 4.9965, with Wood at 4.95.
The State of Texas is now in phase two of the reopening process. On May 18, childcare centers, massage and self-care centers, and youth clubs were allowed to reopen. On May 22, rodeos, equestrian events, bowling alleys, bingo halls, skating rinks, aquariums, natural caverns, and bars followed. Zoos will be allowed to open tomorrow, and Sunday, youth camps, youth sports, and professional sports with no spectators will be reinstated. Office employees may also return at this time.
After seven years of service to The Gazette and the community, Ellis Knox has announced his retirement. Knox has spent his years at the paper cultivating friendships with all that he could and giving attention to those who were not represented before.
