Funeral services for Robert Wayne Fielder, 77, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at McWhorter Funeral Home with Brother Randal Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am prior to the service. Private interment to be held at Matinburg Cemetery.

Robert was born on December 16, 1945, in Lafayette, Texas to James Ester and Vesta Blanch Reed Fielder and passed from this life on July 30, 2023.

Robert graduated from Pittsburg High School. He went on to Stephen F. Austin State University where he played in the band and orchestra. Robert proudly served our country in the United States Army, and he was accepted into the Army band. His love for music and his ability to share it with others was important to him.

For several years, Robert lived close to his sister, Yvonne, and he took pride in taking care of her and helping her with all her daily tasks.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Yvonne Tucker; brother, Jim Fielder (Diane); nieces, Sandra Southwell (Kenny), Jana Champagne, Liz Fielder Shelley (Joe), Suzanne Fielder, Teresa Fielder Kirschke, and Betty Fielder Gray (Mark); nephew, Steve Fielder (Caren); and other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Tommy Fielder.
